Building Community, One Project at a Time

From Barn Beams to Building Dreams

In the early 1980s, Danny and Brenda Sturgill founded Sturgill’s Hardwoods, traveling across the Appalachian Mountains and East Coast to reclaim barns and rescue historic lumber—becoming the original wormy chestnut dealers in the High Country. With deep family roots in logging and sawmill work, their passion for quality wood products grew over the decades.

In 2016, the family legacy continued as Sturgill’s Hardwoods merged with Mile High Construction, founded by their son Jason and his wife Brooke—creating Mile High Lumber Co. & Construction, now specializing in all aspects of building, masonry, roofing, and more.

Celebrating Small Business Saturday

Every board we cut, every structure we build, and every project we help bring to life starts right here in our community. Small Business Saturday isn’t just a day to shop—it’s a celebration of the hardworking families, craftsmen, and neighbors who keep local economies thriving.

At Mile High Lumber Co. & Construction, we’re proud to carry on a family tradition of integrity, craftsmanship, and care that spans generations. Our business was built from the ground up by people who live, work, and raise their families right here in the High Country.

Supporting Families, Not Corporations

When you choose a small business, your support goes far beyond a receipt. You’re helping a local craftsman provide for their family, funding school fundraisers, and keeping jobs right here at home.

Every purchase, project, and referral strengthens our local economy and ensures that the next generation can continue to build, create, and thrive in this community we all share. At Mile High Lumber Co. & Construction, we don’t just build homes—we build lasting connections.
